NeuroWiki:Editing Guidelines

- Policy text is used to describe the current rules or policies of NeuroWiki;
- Users are expected to adhere to the content described on this page;
- The Site Owner of NeuroWiki reserves the final interpretation right for all provisions.
This policy aims to standardize all editing activities on NeuroWiki, including but not limited to article creation and modification, page movement, image uploads, and page deletion.
"(Main) Namespace" Articles and Subpages
Note: Main Page is not subject to the following provisions.
Article Creation
- When creating an article, ensure that the subject complies with the descriptions outlined in NeuroWiki:Article Inclusion Scope.
- Before creating an article, confirm that sufficient source material is available to avoid low-quality, content-deficient articles. Adhere to the principle of "quality over quantity."
- For article naming rules, refer to the Help:Editing Guide or NeuroWiki:Article Naming guidelines.
Article Introduction
- The body of the article should begin by clearly explaining what the subject of the article is.
Article Content
- The specific writing format should follow the Help:Editing Guide as closely as possible and adhere to the formatting requirements specified for the article type.
- Articles should be written from a third-person perspective.
- Neutrality Principle:
- Editors must not add subjective judgments or opinions to articles. This is especially important for articles about characters or works, which should be written from an objective, third-party perspective.
- Evaluative content should be presented through quotations that reflect the views of the community, media, or other sources.
- For controversial content, strive to present multiple perspectives and cite the sources of the information.
- Articles may include appropriate humor, provided it does not disrupt the reading experience or violate editing standards (e.g., personal attacks, fabricated information, excessive jokes). Humor must also remain objective and neutral.
CSS Code Subpages
- CSS code is not inherently confidential; do not include sensitive or private information.
- Code should remain concise and clear, with accurately and intuitively named classes or IDs.
- CSS code must be practical and effectively utilized on the target page.
Prohibited Actions
- Inserting any form of advertising is strictly prohibited. Violators will have their accounts permanently banned, and all related content will be removed retroactively.
- Repeated insertion of irrelevant or meaningless content is prohibited. Offending accounts will be temporarily suspended.
- Destructive behavior is prohibited. See NeuroWiki:Article Protection#Definition of Vandalism for a detailed definition.
- Creating or editing all-white content is prohibited: This includes "blank content" (articles with no substantive content) and "white content" (misuse of {{Color}} tags to make content invisible).
- Violations of NeuroWiki:Content Management Policy are prohibited.
Template and Module Namespaces
- All templates must include a "doc" subpage that provides detailed explanations of their purpose, parameters, usage, and applicable redirects.
- The code logic of templates and modules should remain clear and avoid excessive loops or designs with low robustness.
User Namespace
For user namespace regulations, please refer to NeuroWiki:User Page Policy.
Category Namespace
- If a category is being used by pages but the category page itself is a red link, the category page must be created (even if it remains empty).
- Administrators or senior administrators may add appropriate classifications or descriptions to category pages based on specific circumstances.
NeuroWiki and MediaWiki Namespaces
In principle, only senior administrators or administrators authorized by senior administrators are allowed to create or edit pages in these namespaces.
Help Namespace and Main Page
In principle, only senior administrators or administrators are allowed to create or edit pages in these namespaces.
Redirect Pages
For guidelines on redirect pages, refer to NeuroWiki:Redirects and Help:Redirects and Disambiguation.
