This policy governs the management of bot accounts owned by humans and the application, granting, downgrading, and removal of the bot user group for human-owned accounts.

The following bot accounts are excluded from this policy due to their non-human ownership:

High-Privilege Bot
  1. Bureaucrats create a dedicated account
  2. The Site Owner reviews the basic permissions
  3. Bureaucrats grant the highprivbot group
  4. Attach {{Info/BotMaster}} to the bot's user page to publicly display its owner
  5. Attach {{Info/IHaveBot}} to the owner's user page to publicly display the bots they own
  • Periodic review

Core Guidelines

Bot

  1. Scope of Operations:
    • Limited to tasks that can be performed with regular user permissions
    • Prohibited from handling sensitive content (blocking/deleting)
  2. Identification Requirements:
    • The user page must include {{BotInfo}} and {{Info/BotMaster}}
    • The username should be recognizable as a bot account

High-Privilege Bot

  • Fully managed by the Site Owner.

Violation Handling

Violation Type Actions Taken Associated Responsibility
Unauthorized Granting
  • Revoke the improperly granted user group
  • Suspend the operator's permissions for 30 days
Unauthorized Operation
  • Globally ban the bot
  • Remove all related edits

Globally ban the owner Creator banned from editing for ≥7 days

High-Privilege Abuse
  • Permanently delete the bot account
  • Report to law enforcement

Conduct an investigation into the Bureaucrat

Special Warnings

  • Any form of proxy ownership is prohibited (bot accounts must operate independently)
  • A security breach of high-privilege bot credentials is considered a major security incident.
