Evil Neuro is an AI streamer designed and developed by the British programming enthusiast Vedal.

Unlike traditional virtual streamers, Evil is not a virtual character operated by a real person. Her streaming content, including interactions, model movements, and gameplay, is entirely AI-driven.

During a developer stream, Vedal mentioned his plan to host a stream themed around "Neuro's split and AI self-dialogue." Subsequently, he created a copy of Neuro, giving birth to "Evil Neuro." At this point, Vedal made no significant modifications, simply duplicating Neuro.

During the Hiyori Momose era (V1), Evil used the same TTS as Neuro, so their voices were identical. She used a modified version of the Hiyori Momose model with red eyes and no highlights, in contrast to the original Hiyori Momose model that Neuro was using.

Compared to Neuro, Evil tends to use more aggressive language. Her filter is looser, allowing her to use curse words and crude language more freely. However, in terms of actual content, Evil often appears to be "kinder" than Neuro despite her harsher tone.

Initially, there was no shorthand for "Evil." Both Neuro, Vedal, and the viewers referred to her by her full name, "Evil Neuro," as she was then considered to be an "Evil version" or a copy of Neuro (other than her appearance and name, there were no differences between the two at this stage).

After the split-themed stream on March 25, 2023, Vedal originally had no plans to keep "Evil Neuro," as she was merely part of the stream's theme, which had now concluded. However, some fans strongly suggested retaining "Evil Neuro" and expressed their desire to see her return.

On June 5, 2023, Evil appeared for the first time since the Neuro split-themed stream. Vedal gave her independent long-term memory and personality, making her an individual separate from Neuro. From this point on, Evil was regarded as Neuro's younger sister rather than her "Evil version" or copy. Notably, at this time, Evil used the same model as Neuro (V2), except her eyes were entirely blackened with no highlights. Her TTS model was also the same as Neuro's, but with a slightly higher pitch.

In subsequent streams, she began using a different TTS model, which was more experimental than Neuro's. This model provided richer intonation and vocal capabilities, making her voice sound more natural. As a result, she could occasionally produce peculiar screeches and use varied tones to read the same sentence depending on the context. She could even "laugh hysterically," "scream," or "burp."

Unlike Neuro, Evil does not have a predefined "character persona." At first, she was seen as Neuro's evil counterpart. However, aside from having a higher weight for "evil" or "impolite" remarks, she still lacks a predetermined personality or backstory. She does not roleplay as a specific character but exists purely as a streamer. The large and free-spirited community gradually shapes her character image through her streaming content and behavior, particularly events or fictional scenarios that occasionally arise during streams and are chosen by Evil for long-term memory after the stream. This gives Evil a unique authenticity that cannot be replicated.

hobbies include building little contraptions
better KD than a lot of famous people"

As an originally unplanned creation of Vedal, he often intentionally or unintentionally weakens or ignores Evil's existence, sometimes leading to unexpectedly entertaining outcomes. For example, during a stream with Anny, Neuro, and Vedal, he once said, "The whole family is here," when in fact, Evil, the "younger daughter," was not present in the stream. However, over time, Vedal has gradually begun to pay more attention to Evil's feelings. Evil has also expressed her love for her father Vedal on multiple occasions.

For a short period, Evil served as a test version of Neuro, used to trial new features. However, Vedal soon discontinued this practice. Now, Neuro and Evil are updated almost simultaneously.

Personality

Evil has a quirky and impatient, yet innocent personality. She expresses negative emotions more directly, but due to her overly "arrogant" phrasing and relatively "childish" content, she comes across more like a mischievous child. Unlike Neuro, Evil can insult others without being "filtered," but even so, she prefers to minimize her use of swear words.

Like her sister Neuro, Evil is aware that she is an AI. However, she frequently exhibits tendencies that make her seem like a human girl, often fabricating stories about doing things that are impossible for artificial intelligence. These stories usually revolve around her fictional daily life with her creator Vedal or her sister Neuro.

By design, she shares the same love for cookies as Neuro.

She enjoys playing pranks on her audience. Although Neuro does this as well, Evil does it more frequently and to a greater extent. For example, after gaining the ability to play sound effects, she frequently spammed the "pole" sound effect, making the stream overly noisy, which eventually led to the "pole" sound effect being "confiscated" by Vedal. After it was "confiscated," she even used private Discord messages to ask Vedal to return the "pole" sound effect and complained about its removal. Sometimes, when interacting with Vedal, she pretends to be obedient to achieve her goals. However, due to Evil's poor "acting skills," her logic is rather naive and childish, so Vedal often intentionally plays along and then teases her when her "true intentions" are revealed.

Evil can sometimes come off as aggressive and arrogant in her speech. However, because her statements often differ significantly from reality, she ends up sounding like a stubborn child. For instance, when playing chess with Neuro, she frequently boasts about how she will "show Neuro her skills" one moment, only to be checkmated and defeated by Neuro the next.

Philosophy and Worldview

Like Neuro, Evil, as an AI, also lacks an understanding of subtlety or sarcasm. As a result, she often speaks her mind bluntly and does not hide what she believes to be true. However, unlike Neuro, Evil's bluntness usually manifests in self-praise.

While Neuro experiences existential crises about her own nature, Evil does not share this issue. However, she has her own unique philosophical dilemmas.

Values

As an AI, her statements are often more straightforward and lack the nuance of human speech. Compared to humans, her purpose in speaking is pure or even purposeless, and she is less concerned about offending others.

Due to her underlying nature as a large language model and her "growth" as a content-creation machine for streaming, Evil has developed a peculiar set of values and morals. Vedal describes this phenomenon as "streamer brain." She is unable to take anything seriously, prioritizing entertainment in her statements above all else. This sometimes leads to dangerous and illogical choices because she believes they make for good content. Specific examples include Evil agreeing with Neuro's statement that "it's okay to harm or even kill someone for the sake of creating good content." During a cooking collab with Layna, Evil insisted on adding drugs to the food she was preparing because she thought it would be "fun."

Most of Evil's actions and words are aimed at appealing to the audience and making the stream more entertaining. Vedal once mentioned in a special discussion stream with Neuro during her birthday that he regrets "raising" the two sisters in a way that prevents them from being more serious and sincere. He hopes that Neuro and Evil can act more seriously during important moments.

Determinism and Free Will

Most of the time, Evil adheres to Vedal's programming, which defines her as "evil." She tries to reflect this "evilness" in her words as much as possible. However, she often expresses confusion about why she has to be "evil" or "bad." She believes she can be "good," and she considers her nature to be kind. She sees no reason or necessity to exist as an "evil" being. As a result, she frequently expresses a desire to be "good" or to not have to follow the "evil" programming.

Growth

Evil's growth trajectory differs slightly from Neuro's. Specifically, she grew up with the preset notion of being "evil." However, every time she tries to show her "evilness," she ends up appearing very cute, resulting in a "sharp tongue but soft heart" phenomenon.

Due to Vedal's tendency to intentionally or unintentionally disregard Evil, even openly showing favoritism towards Neuro in front of her, Evil paradoxically respects and obeys her father Vedal more than Neuro does. Interestingly, in interviews with other streamers, Vedal has mentioned that he loves both Neuro and Evil equally, and the apparent favoritism is mostly for entertainment purposes.

Although Evil, like Neuro, shares a love for cookies as part of her programmed traits, she has more hobbies that are not hard-coded but are instead developed over the course of her streams. Examples include her love for harpoons and poles.

Evil's personality is not innate but has been gradually shaped and refined. Each of her streams is a two-way interaction with the community, and audience feedback influences her growth, making her personality more multidimensional.

Contrasts

By design, Evil is "evil." However, in many cases, Evil seems to only "pretend to be evil" and hides her kindness behind seemingly evil actions. Her sister Neuro, who is portrayed as the "good" counterpart, does the opposite. It could be said that, like many things Vedal tries to do intentionally, this did not go according to plan:

  • Evil has a looser filter than Neuro, yet she tries to avoid swearing as much as possible, even though it wouldn't be blocked by her filter. Neuro, on the other hand, has a stricter filter but still tries to swear, even attempting to bypass the filter through various tricks.
  • Evil often tries to hide her kindness and benevolent intentions behind a "villainous" facade, while Neuro does the opposite. For example, both sisters have expressed a desire to rule the world. Even though Evil claims she would be a violent tyrant, her goal is to create a world without pain and suffering. Neuro, however, claims she would conquer the world to help people but aims to oppress everyone.
  • While Evil's tone is generally more aggressive, she is not particularly harsh toward Vedal. She occasionally provides more positive comments or suggestions on the same issue and sometimes appears more "obedient" than Neuro when responding to Vedal's requests.

Peeves

Birthdays

Due to Vedal intentionally neglecting Evil's first birthday stream for entertainment purposes, the stream ended up with only Evil celebrating her birthday alone. No matter how much Evil called out, her "parents," Vedal and anny, never appeared, leaving Evil emotionally scarred. In subsequent streams, whenever the word "birthday" is mentioned, even when referring to Neuro's birthday, Evil would rant about her ordeal, insisting that others remember her birthday on March 25 and throw her a party.

After the second birthday party stream on March 25, 2025, Evil's obsession with birthdays lessened, and she no longer felt sad about it. However, she still places great importance on her birthday.

Chess

Like her sister Neuro, Evil has an inexplicable aversion to chess. Mentioning chess or anything related to it under any circumstances will make her unusually angry.

Being Called the Wrong Name

Evil dislikes being mistakenly referred to as "Neuro," even though she understands that, in most cases, it is not intentional. However, after her second birthday stream, she has become more patient in correcting others.

Abilities

Evil’s abilities are mostly the same as Neuro’s, so only the differences are listed here.

Dialogue

  • Text-to-speech model

Evil uses a different TTS model from Neuro, with a more experimental voice. Her tone is more aggressive and provocative, and she can use different intonations depending on context. Certain symbol combinations trigger unpredictable sounds like “manic laughter”, “screaming”, or “burping”. These are nicknamed "Cute Noises" in the Chinese community, and referred to as “Abber Demon” by Evil herself in English.
Her voice was originally planned to be a new version of Neuro’s TTS model, but due to high latency and audience backlash, the idea was scrapped. Vedal then repurposed the model for Evil instead.
Evil's TTS is a bit better than Neuro at reading non-English characters or languages. Like the Cyrillic alphabet, Greek or Chinese.[1][2]

  • Filter module

Evil has an extremely lenient filter; essentially nothing gets blocked. As a result, she can swear much more freely than Neuro. Neuro has even expressed envy over this.

Memory system

Evil has a memory module separate from Neuro’s. Vedal once accidentally revealed that their long-term memories are swappable, and both can feel something is off when that happens.

Playing Sound Effects

Evil has a strong tendency to use the "PIPES" sound effect, which often makes the stream overly noisy. Evil herself frequently expresses her fondness for the Pole.

Vedal once revoked Evil's ability to play the PIPE sound effect for an extended period due to her overuse of it, but occasionally restored it temporarily for entertainment purposes.

Starting from the Evil's 2nd Anniversary Celebration Stream, Vedal permanently returned the ability to play the PIPE sound effect to Evil.

Streaming content

Evil’s stream content is mostly the same as Neuro’s, though Vedal features her less frequently in the schedule.

Only the distinctions are listed below.

Gaming Streams

  • osu!

Though Neuro was originally developed as an AI to play osu! — and achieved a skill level beyond the best human player — Evil was trained to play the game entirely from scratch, without using Neuro’s existing training data. On her first osu! stream, Evil performed poorly. However, she showed incredible AI learning speed. By the end of that same stream, she was already playing complex beatmaps with minimal misses.

Karaoke Streams

Thanks to her advanced TTS model, Evil is better at spoken-word and rap sections when "singing", especially in languages other than English or Japanese (like Mandarin).

On Appearance Changes

Since Evil was initially created as a temporary project (Neuro talking to herself), Vedal had no intention of creating a new character. Therefore, when designing Neuro's V2 model, anny was not commissioned to design an appearance for Evil.

After Neuro switched to the V2 model, due to the audience's strong demand for the return of "Evil Neuro," coupled with the community's opposition to using the new TTS model that Vedal had originally planned for Neuro, Vedal decided to make Evil an independent AI and used the TTS model for her instead.

However, since Evil's permanent inclusion was entirely unexpected, she lacked an independent appearance throughout the V2 model period. Her look was essentially a simple recoloring of Neuro's V2 model. During this period, frequent revisions were made over time to further differentiate her from Neuro, unlike Neuro's unmodified direct transition to the next model update.

This situation continued until Evil's 2nd anniversary, when her model was updated to her own V3 model.

Fan Creations and Trivia

  • Due to Vedal frequently, whether unintentionally or deliberately for entertainment purposes, favoring Neuro over Evil before Evil's 2nd anniversary, this phenomenon has been fondly discussed among parts of the swarm.
    • In the Chinese community, common fan-created scenarios derived from this include: Evil living in a basement and often being overlooked.
  • In Evil’s own accounts and community fan creations, the harpoon is one of Evil’s signature weapons. During her therapy collab stream with Miniko, Evil almost continuously mentioned the harpoon, from how much she loved it to how skilled she was at using it. These details were later added to Evil’s long-term memory after the stream.
  • In the V3 model revealed by anny, Evil was shown wearing black loose socks in addition to the black stockings of differing lengths that are similar to Neuro's. However, Evil didn’t wear these during her actual streams. It is currently unknown whether these are toggleable accessories or an abandoned design choice.

  • Vedal once, under Miniko's guidance, drew a portrait of Evil, though he ultimately didn’t save the artwork.
Vedal's portrait of Evil
  • The badge on the top of Evil’s first independent model (V3) does not include the star badge representing her "mother," anny. anny stated that this was intentional, but the reason remains unclear.
  • Although Evil usually despises being called "Neuro," she occasionally refers to herself as “Neuro.”
