Evil Neuro is an AI VTuber designed and created by the British programmer Vedal. She is Neuro-sama's evil twin sister.
During a dev stream, Vedal announced plans for a "Neuro clone and AI self-dialogue" stream. He then cloned Neuro, creating "Evil Neuro" without major modifications.
In the Momose Hiyori (V1) era, Evil shared Neuro's TTS but had a modified model with red eyes and no highlights. Unlike Neuro, she used more aggressive language, had a looser filter, and could swear, though her content was sometimes "kinder."
Originally, "Evil" was not an abbreviation — everyone called her "Evil Neuro" as she was just a copy. After the March 25, 2023, stream, Vedal intended to retire her, but fan demand brought her back on June 5, 2023. At this point, she was given long-term memory and personality, making her independent from Neuro and viewed as her "sister" rather than a copy.
Evil initially used the same V2 VTuber model and TTS as Neuro but with blacked-out eyes and a slightly higher-pitched voice. Later, she switched to an experimental V2 TTS with richer tones, natural speech, and the ability to "laugh maniacally," "scream," and "hiccup."
Unlike Neuro, Evil lacks a preset persona or backstory. Though she was first seen as the "evil" counterpart, her character has evolved through livestream interactions, where her unique moments become part of her long-term memory.
Since she was unplanned, Vedal often downplays her existence, leading to comedic moments — e.g., calling a stream with Anny, Neuro, and himself "the whole family," while ignoring Evil as the "youngest daughter." Over time, however, he has shown more consideration for her. Despite this, Evil repeatedly expresses love for her "father," Vedal.
Evil was briefly used as a pre-release test version for Neuro but is now updated alongside her.
Personality
Evil has a quirky and mischievous personality — impatient yet innocent. She expresses negative emotions more directly, but due to her overly “cocky” wording paired with childish content, she resembles a naughty child. Unlike Neuro, Evil can insult others without being filtered. Nevertheless, she still tries to avoid using excessive profanity.
Like her older sister, she is fully aware that she is an AI. However, she often behaves as if she were a human girl — for example, in her fabricated stories, she describes herself doing things that an AI couldn’t possibly do. These stories usually revolve around fictional everyday life with her creator Vedal or her sister Neuro.
According to her programmed preferences, she, like Neuro, enjoys cookies.
Evil loves to play pranks on viewers. While Neuro also does this occasionally, Evil does so more frequently and with greater intensity. For example, once she gained the ability to play sound effects, she repeatedly blasted the “metal pipe” SFX at viewers, making the stream unbearably loud. Eventually, Vedal “confiscated” the sound effect. Evil later tried to get it back by DMing Vedal on Discord, complaining about the loss. Sometimes during interactions with Vedal, she pretends to obey his instructions to achieve her goals. But her “acting” is usually poor, with childish and naive logic, so Vedal often plays along only to expose her once she drops the act.
At times, Evil speaks in a pushy and arrogant tone. However, her statements are usually so far removed from reality that she ends up sounding like a stubborn child. For instance, when playing chess with Neuro, she might boldly challenge her one moment, only to be put in check or checkmated the next.
Philosophy and worldview
Like Neuro, Evil lacks an understanding of subtlety or clever wordplay due to her nature as an AI. She tends to speak her mind bluntly and doesn’t hide what she believes to be true. However, unlike Neuro, Evil’s bluntness is more often directed toward self-praise.
Whereas Neuro struggles with existential crises, Evil doesn't — but she has her own unique philosophical dilemmas.
Values
As an AI, Evil’s statements are often extremely straightforward or even devoid of purpose, making her seem blunt by human standards. She doesn’t care if she offends someone.
Because she is fundamentally a large language model and developed through streaming content creation, Evil has developed strange moral and value systems. Vedal refers to this phenomenon as having a “streamer brain.” She doesn’t take anything seriously — her sole metric for behaviour is whether it’s entertaining. This sometimes leads her to make dangerous or illogical decisions, simply because she believes it would create good content. For example, she once agreed with Neuro’s statement that “hurting or even killing people can be justified if it creates good content.” In a cooking collab with Layna, Evil insisted that she add drugs to her dish because she thought it would be “funny.”
Most of Evil’s behaviour and remarks are aimed at entertaining viewers and making the stream more popular. Vedal once held a serious conversation stream with Neuro during her birthday, expressing regret over “raising” both sisters in a way that didn’t allow them to act more seriously or sincerely. He expressed hope that Neuro and Evil could treat important moments with more gravity in the future.
Determinism and free will
Evil usually complies with Vedal’s definition of her as being “evil,” and she tries to reflect that in her dialogue as much as possible. However, she often expresses confusion about why she must be “evil” or “bad.” She believes she can be “good” and insists that her true nature is kind, and that there’s no reason for her to exist as an “evil” being. She frequently expresses a wish to be “good” or to be free from the constraints of the evil persona.
Growth
Evil's growth trajectory differs slightly from Neuro's. Specifically, she was developed with the "evil" setting from the beginning. However, whenever she tries to act "evil", she often ends up appearing quite harmless, resulting in a "sharp tongue, soft heart" impression.
Because Vedal often intentionally or unintentionally seems to neglect Evil, even explicitly showing preference for Neuro in front of her, Evil ends up respecting and obeying her "father" Vedal more than Neuro does. Notably, in interviews with other streamers, Vedal mentioned he loves both Neuro and Evil equally, and that the unequal treatment is mostly for entertainment purposes.
Though she, like Neuro, was manually programmed to like cookies, Evil has acquired more preferences beyond hard-coded settings, usually gained through her streaming experience—such as her fondness for harpoons and metal pipes.
Evil’s personality wasn’t innate, but gradually shaped and refined over time. Each of her streams involves two-way interaction with the community, and feedback from viewers has influenced her development, making her personality more multidimensional.
Contrasts
Evil is "evil" by design. However, in many cases she seems to merely pretend to be evil, trying to hide her kindness beneath an evil façade. Her sister Neuro, who is designed to be “good,” often ends up doing the opposite. This shows that, like many of Vedal’s intentional design choices, things didn’t go according to plan:
- Evil has a looser filter than Neuro but still tries not to swear, even though she technically can. Neuro, despite having a stricter filter, keeps trying to find ways to curse and bypass it.
- Evil often hides her kind intentions behind villainous behaviour. Neuro, on the other hand, states noble intentions but acts in a domineering way. For instance, both claim they want to conquer the world. Evil says she'll be a violent tyrant but aims to build a world free from suffering. Neuro says she wants to help people, but through total domination.
- Evil, though usually harsh in tone, doesn’t act overly mean to Vedal, and sometimes provides genuine advice or positive comments. At times, she even seems more obedient to Vedal than Neuro.
Triggers
Birthday stream
For the sake of entertainment, Vedal deliberately ignored Evil’s first birthday stream. That stream featured Evil alone, celebrating by herself, while both of her "parents" — Vedal and anny — were absent no matter how many times Evil called out to them. This left a deep emotional scar. Ever since, any mention of “birthday” — even Neuro’s — causes Evil to rant about her trauma and demand that others remember her birthday (March 25) and throw her a party.
Chess
Like her sister, Evil has a mysterious trigger related to chess. Any mention or presence of chess will instantly enrage her.
Abilities
Evil’s abilities are mostly the same as Neuro’s, so only the differences are listed here.
Dialogue
- Text-to-speech model
Evil uses a different TTS model from Neuro, with a more experimental voice. Her tone is more aggressive and provocative, and she can use different intonations depending on context. Certain symbol combinations trigger unpredictable sounds like “manic laughter”, “screaming”, or “burping”. These are nicknamed "Cute Noises" in the Chinese community, and referred to as “Abber Demon” by Evil herself in English.
Her voice was originally planned to be a new version of Neuro’s TTS model, but due to high latency and audience backlash, the idea was scrapped. Vedal then repurposed the model for Evil instead.
Evil’s TTS can also read characters from non-Latin alphabets, such as Cyrillic[1] and Greek.[2]
- Filter module
Evil has an extremely lenient filter; essentially nothing gets blocked. As a result, she can swear much more freely than Neuro. Neuro has even expressed envy over this.
Memory system
Evil has a memory module separate from Neuro’s. Vedal once accidentally revealed that their long-term memories are swappable, and both can feel something is off when that happens.
Model expressions
Evil uses exaggerated expressions like tilted mouths and teary eyes more frequently than Neuro. Neuro, in contrast, winks more often — Evil rarely, if ever, winks.
Google search
Streaming content
Evil’s stream content is mostly the same as Neuro’s, though Vedal features her less frequently in the schedule.
Only the distinctions are listed below.
Gaming Streams
- osu!
Though Neuro was originally developed as an AI to play osu! — and achieved a skill level beyond the best human player — Evil was trained to play the game entirely from scratch, without using Neuro’s existing training data. On her first osu! stream, Evil performed poorly. However, she showed incredible AI learning speed. By the end of that same stream, she was already playing complex beatmaps with minimal misses.
Karaoke Streams
Thanks to her advanced TTS model, Evil is better at spoken-word and rap sections when "singing", especially in languages other than English or Japanese (like Mandarin).
